You are among a unique group of patients whose hospital care will be under the direction and guidance of a team of specialty trained hospital-based physicians – Hospitalist Associates of Virginia. They will coordinate and manage your total primary inpatient medical care – from your admission through your discharge and post-discharge services.
The Hospitalist Associates of Virginia team of physicians is experienced and skilled in the latest hospital treatments and the most effective ways to deliver services to you. They are all board certified/eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, and specialize in providing primary medical care to hospitalized patients. Unlike many other physicians, they are available to care for you 24 hours a day, thus assuring that you and your family receive high quality, responsive attention and care.
A Hospitalist is available to:
- Evaluate patients upon admission
- Respond to patients’ needs 24 hours a day
- Examine and evaluate patients daily
- Provide an immediate response to patient emergencies
- Conduct efficient diagnostic work-ups
- Order consultations and coordinate patient care with subspecialty physicians
- Respond to test results in a timely manner
- Serve as patient advocates
- Improve the patient’s hospital experience
- Maintain a continuity of patient care
- Communicate with referring physicians
- Recommend primary care physicians for follow-up
- Coordinate discharge planning
- Enhance the quality of patient care
